Heavy rains have left a trial of destruction in Kazungula’s Sikaunzwe Ward leaving over 40 families homeless.
The rains that were characterized by a hailstorm have also flooded maize fields while roads are impassable in four villages of the ward.
The affected areas are Kachabula, Kasaya, Sililo and Mapani villages respectively.
One of the flooded victims in Sililo Village Mukanzala Siakasweka says it has now been three days since the area is experiencing heavy rains and her house has collapsed while all the food she had has been lost.
Another victim Christopher Liswaniso has projected a hunger situation in the fourth coming crop marketing season as most of the maize fields have severely been destroyed in the floods.
And Sikaunzwe Ward Councilor Oscar Sililo has called on the government through the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) to come to the aid of the flooded victims by providing tents and food relief to cushion the impact.
